Ethics Reform:

As an Alderman, Bob has worked to expand the City Ethics Ordinance, called for third party audits of city departments, for on-line access to board minutes and government materials, and expanded television coverage of city board meetings.  And Bob refuses all contributions from Department Head and Senior Managers.

On Beacon Hill he'll shake things up with expanded ethics disclosure requirements, end "phantom voting" by absent members, televise committee hearings on-line, and refuse money from PAC's and lobbyists.

Better Schools:

Bob knows educational excellence is the key to our state's economic future.  His strong record as an Ex-Officio member of the School Committee and his work to improve neighborhood schools will translate into strong support for local aid for schools, smaller classes, affordable state colleges, and for MCAS testing to ensure accountability.

Standing up for Taxpayers:

This means fighting for a smart casino gambling plan and more local aid to mitigate rising property taxes.  As a homeowner and parent, Bob will fight for a better quality of life thorough community policing, tax relief for seniors, better transportation options, tougher environmental laws, and a vibrant economy.

My Opponent:

* In 2004, my opponent blasted Vincent Ciampa as too close to Speaker Finneran, then took $400 from Finneran's PAC the day after he was elected!

* Took more PAC money from Speaker Sal Dimasi

* Voted for raises for members of Dimasi's leadership team.

* Accepted thousands and thousands of dollars from Beacon Hill PAC's.

* Got most (62%) of his donations - a total of $61,307 - from outside Medford and Somerville.

* Didn't turn in signatures to get on the ballot, and is now running an expensive
sticker campaign funded largely by outside special interests.
